A preamble to The Hesitant Entrepreneur
Can you be an entrepreneur if you’re filled with indecision and self-doubt?
That’s the question I can’t shake. Self-confidence doesn’t come naturally to me. I’m not resolute. I second-guess most things I do. And yet, something keeps pulling me toward building something of my own.
The classic image of the entrepreneur, someone with risk tolerance and self-confidence baked into their DNA, isn’t me. I’m not hyper-ambitious, either. I dislike the idea of growing five-fold in five years, as well as the exit mentality. I want to think long term. I want to stay small. I want to have a positive impact on the community around me. In today’s world, I believe, this is thinking big.
So the big question is: am I going to be fine?
The answer to this question is an ongoing process for me. The current state is: I don’t know, but I’m going to try anyway.
What this blog is
Primarily, I want to start this blog to keep track of my thoughts and evolution during this adventure and, if possible, to engage with others so I can update my worldview for the better.
What this blog isn't
This blog is not about sharing hero stories, and certainly not about giving tips on how to quickly become a millionaire. Quite the opposite, actually. This blog is for you if you are thinking about starting your own thing and, like me, you’re scared as hell.
